Dan Lee

Dan Lee has been fishing on the Mornington Peninsula since the tender age of four. Beginning with his grandfather and father on the Somers beach in Westernport, Dan now spends most of his time fishing the south end of Port Phillip Bay.  Dan has fished all over Australia and caught species including barra, kingfish, yellowfin, bluefin, jewfish, marlin, mako and of course plenty of snapper, gummy shark and whiting!

Dan's passion for fishing led him to open Peninsula Total Tackle in 2009.  For some time he had felt that there was a gap in the market for quality fishing tackle and service on the Mornington Peninsula.  No other store had a full range of tackle and stocked the big brands like Shimano & Daiwa.  Importantly, Dan also wanted a store with staff who lived and breathed fishing.  The dream is now a reality!

Dan's fishing reports from the shop and local area can be heard most weeks on 3SER 97.7 and Off The Hook on 1116, and occassionally on the  3AW fishing show on Friday nights.

Jason Unsworth

Jason grew up in Western Australia, where his bread and butter fishing was hitting the surf beach for big salmon and tailor or the north west rock ledges for snapper, trevally and mackerel.

Jason moved to the Mornington Peninsula a few years back and has not looked back.  Towing his massive Clayton Gallant from Portland to the east coast you'll see him fishing for all manner of species not the least of which might be the humble whiting or calamari found in our local waters.

Jules Frank

We call him the Mass Plasticator - Jules Frank is a lover of soft plastics fishing and all things land based.  If it's available from a pier down on the peninsula then there is a good chance Jules will have caught it.

Also known for losing expensive rods and reels over board or injuring himself, Jules is a tackle rat from way back.  If you want to know specs on a reel or rod, come see him!

Gavin Fallon

Gavin Fallon has lived his whole life on the Mornington Peninsula - and accordingly spent a lot of time fishing the bay.  His family however, originally came from Cohuna on the Murray River, so he has spent plenty of time targetting cod, red fin, trout and yellow belly.

Gav has spent time on trawlers where they caught 1000lb tiger sharks in the Gulf of Carpentaria, but is still just as excited to chase the humble estuary perch caught locally in the creeks of Westernport.  He now considers himself somewhat a plastic and lure fanatic.

Gav was recently wrapped to catch his first landbased Melbourne Mulloway - come see him for hints and tips!

Paul Barton

Paul started fishing on the central coast of NSW as a little tacker.  He later moved to the Mornington Peninsula and thus started a long term love affair with Port Phillip Bay and, in particular, Westernport.

Often found drifting around miles offshore, Paul can regularly be located chasing his favourite species, the one, the only - Shortfin Mako!  He has a penchant for big hooks and rubber skirts and can occassionaly be seen using these items trolling for Tuna.

John Cahill

John Cahill cut his teeth on the freshwater impoundments and rivers in the north of the state but developed a serious passion for saltwater fishing when he moved to the coast eighteen years ago. A regular visitor to destinations such as Portland and Narooma, there isn't a fish he won't target!

Although a keen bluewater exponent, John can regularly be found cruising the inshore reefs from Black Rock to Mt Martha in his Kayak in search of some of Port Phillip's finest fish - Snapper! John is a keen fishing journalist and regularly contributes to the South East and West Fishing and VFM.
