Peninsula Total Tackle Report 12/11/2009

November 12, 2009

Snapper, Snapper, Snapper! While it has been a slower start down our end of the bay, the last week has seen the deep marks off Mt Martha begin to fire. As little as 10 days ago, there were few fish holding on the deep ground but all that changed this week with the spike of hot weather and a further increase in water temps. And wow, don’t we love a bit of hot weather and a calm sea!?

Bay Morning...

Jay Furniss has had a week of snapper fishing he will not soon forget. Bagging out each day for 4 days in a row, and catching over 12 fish per session, he has had an absolute ball. Amongst the mayhem, fish fell to Snapper Snatchers, the Black & Gold Lucanus Jig and of course a plethora of baits. The biggest fish went 5.7kg with the majority sitting around 3kg. As an added bonus he caught a nice little male gummy shark around 5kg on Tuesday which, unbelievably, managed to snaffle a bait in between the snapper action.

Jason Patterson also had a great time nailing 11 fish and dropping many more whilst fishing by himself in a crazy session which only lasted 45 minutes. The fish fired between 5:15am – 6am taking all baits. To top it off he got his bag of squid on the way in...awesome!

We now have a new leader for our in-store snapper comp, Caine Mier, who weighed in a 7.04kg fish. It was a short but massively fat fish caught off Mt Martha in about 17m of water. If you want to enter our snapper comp, simply bring your catch into the store for a weigh on the lie detector and a happy snap. The angler catching the heaviest fish will take home over $800 in Shimano & Daiwa snapper outfits. Prize awarded Friday 4th of December 2009.

There have been a few bleary eyes in the shop this week with the staff also getting amongst the action. Gav had a ripper session off Carrum snaring close to 20 fish, while Dan and Joe have also bought home bags of fish. So remember for day to day, blow by blow reports, feel free to stop in and have a chat...

In other news our website is on the way, so keep an eye out in the coming weeks. It will include recent reports, a gallery where you can upload your latest photos of your catch, articles, politics and much more. The address will be: www.peninsulattotaltackle.com.au

And remember if you want one of your catches reported, please send info and pics to info@peninsulatotaltackle.com.au

Regards,

The Team at Peninsula Total Tackle
